JACAP offers services to local, regional and foreign rights owners of musical works (i.e. composers, authors and music publishers) and to music users (i.e. persons and entities) that publicly perform, broadcast, diffuse by cable or record music or authorize the public performance, broadcast and recording of music.

The service JACAP offers to right owners is monitoring the use of music in the territory of Jamaica, licensing the use of music for the purposes of public performance, broadcast, cable diffusion and recording, collecting licence fees or royalties for such use and distributing royalties. JACAP also has reciprocal agreements (and is pursuing more such agreements) with foreign performing and mechanical rights societies by virtue of which those societies perform the same services for JACAP members in their respective regional and foreign territories. The value of the services offered by JACAP and other collecting societies is that it would be impractical for an individual rights owner to be
able to monitor the use of his/her work(s) by a multiplicity of users all around the world and grant licences on an individual basis.

The service JACAP offers to music users is to act as a clearinghouse for the grant of rights for the broadcast, public performance, cable diffusion and recording of a multiplicity of musical works created and published by a multiplicity of rights holders. JACAP offers music users the ability to have legally secure access to all musical works in its repertoire.
