JAMAICA ASSOCIATION OF COMPOSERS AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS LTD. (JACAP) AND CARIBBEAN MEDIA CORPORATION (CMC) SIGNS WIDE SCREEN RIGHTS LICENSING AGREEMENT FOR ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011
If you are planning to show matches to the public (outside of your home) whether it is being done for profit or otherwise, it will be necessary to obtain a licence.
Licenses for such matches must be obtained from Jamaica Association of Composers Authors & Publishers Ltd (JACAP), which is acting as the agents for Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) which has the broadcast rights for the territory.
As often as deemed legally necessary JACAP will advise unlicensed users of public audiovisual screens in the JACAP administered territory about the requirement to obtain a licence to show publicly the matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Unlicensed users are defined as public establishments – including bars, restaurants, hotels, offices, construction sites, water borne vessels, aircraft, buses, armed services establishments etc. – that promote the broadcast of the event and/or charge an admission fee to watch the event.
Where matches are shown without the necessary licence, this will constitute an infringement of copyright and legal action will be taken.
