The shares in a song must add up to 100%.

Music/Melody – 50% Words/Lyrics – 50%.

The total shares for music/melody = 50%.

The total shares for words/Lyrics = 50%.

Any amount of persons/writers can contribute to (write) a song.

The above totals must be shared between the “contributors” and agreed in writing.

The person(s) writing the music/melody is (are) the composer(s).

The person(s) writing the words/lyrics is (are) the author(s).

Words/lyrics alone do not qualify for “notification” you must notify also on the person(s) responsible for the music/melody composers may notify on an !nstrumental work and claim the full 100%.

In Jamaica the musical accompaniment for A SONG is usually referred to as the “RHYTHM” this would have to be considered under “MUSIC” above.
